Desert Sands pitchers can be found in a variety of sizes and shapes. Most commonly found are the smaller sizes. The individual creamers are found in an almost infinite variety of shapes and sizes, each one hand-formed - the one shown here a mere 2" tall but they are often taller, nearly reaching the 4" height of the table creamer. The table creamers are often found with a matching sugar bowl but more often, they are found alone. Larger pitchers are rather scarce and are also quite variable in their shapes. This one stands just over 6" tall and probably holds about a quart.

This large pitcher has the Desert Sunset mark on the underside which means it was almost certainly thrown by Terrell Evans. Terrell was probably the most refined potter of the Evans family. Typically, the pieces he threw have thinner walls and often, a graceful elegance. The arching handle on this piece is pencil thin and the fact that it has survived tells me it has been treasured more than used.
