I think I have narrowed this down to Racine, Wisconsin, 1881-1883. Can anyone add any more information?

Really cool! I read about Company F and Racine 1881-1883. My only problem is that this art style is so typical Art Nouveau, I doubt it's designed in 1880's, rather 15-20 years later. Just a subjective thought. Who or what was Sugden?

Thanks OlofZ. The reason I think 1881-1883 is those are the only years that there was only one active company F in the Wisconsin National Guard. In later years they would have had to mention a regiment number so that it would be known which company F the medal was for. There were Sugdens in the Racine area who might have sponsored such a medal but I have found no record of that yet.

      Great piece-- very well made!

I have nothing to add about the item.

Can you post an image of the back?

Scott the reverse is blank and without any clues other than what is left of the pin. Thanks for asking.

Just found out that this medal was awarded in 1896.
