This is a pretty typical (I suppose) wooden crate that would have held a case (4 six-packs) of PEPSI-COLA returnable/refillable bottles. Being in remarkably good shape, I suspect it actually spent most of its life holding somebody's garden tools or something in a garage instead. Yellow and blue paint on its outside is only slightly worn, reading "PEPSI-COLA GENERAL BOTTLERS, INC." on its ends. Inside both sides it is marked "STURDY-BILT BY SOUTHERN WOODEN BOX INC. JONESBORO, ARK." with a date "5-66".
Nice! I collect Pepsi bottles & other related stuff. I have about 6 or 7 of these in various condition. Yours is in great shape. Very common.
THANKS MUCH (if somewhat belatedly?) to fortapache, bottle-bud, Caperkid, EJW-54, Manikin, officialfuel, Chevelleman69, iggy, farmlady, jdstor, & yougottahavestuff for stopping by and sharing your appreciation!! :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)
Whadda 'ya mean "back in the day", WPA-Collector?? That's *still* what I use it for, right now its full of old tools in fact... ;-) :-) <lol> Thanks for the new <love it> too!
