The 'Mahavishnu Orchestra' One of the 70's greatest Jazz Fusion bands of all time. Featuring the incredible John McLaughlin on guitar. He would pioneer some of the greatest fusion music of that time. Hard edged and then peaceful tranquility in his music. The core band was the great Billy Cobham on drums, Rick Laird on bass, Jan Hammer on keyboards and Jerry Goodman on violin. the band has had other great musicians thru out it's career. Most notable Jean-Luc Ponty on violin. At 75 yrs old, John Mclaughlin is still creating music. He is playing tonite in Ann Arbor Michigan with Jimmy Herring. I will be attending the show. He is resurrecting the music of Mahavishnu and should be a delight to see.

FWIW ... Jerry Goodman was a neighbor ... great group.
Thanx rniederman, that is very cool. Did you talk to him a lot? And where? If you don't mind me asking.
Jerry was my older brother's friend. At the time, we lived in a suburb north of Chicago. Jerry playing in the Flock was memorable.
