Please forgive this motley line-up. These kralik Caged pieces are all produced with more vertical Iron work. As you will see, there are some questionable caged pieces out there (more pictures are needed). All caged pieces are fairly rare too
1. Mini vase is in a cool squash shape with heavy powder decor. It is flashed finish (probably not Iris decor)
2. A taller variation in a melon cream base and green powder spots
3. This piece might not me Kralik at all but it appears to be from the same period- My guess is it was from a competitor. This decor is confetti uncased; I have the identical shape in a cased confetti decor. Finding the decor matches could help identify the maker
4. This 11 1/2" tall piece is signed and shows a unique shape. The decor is light green cream with brown powder spots
Wow - you're spoiling us Jericho!
I remember having posted number 3 elsewhere years ago. I still have it stashed away. But I remember its history: it was bought in Romania for DM 40 (before Euro was introduced). It was in a garage on the floor and I thought it was made in Romania. On the other hand, unlike plethora of faked Gale from Romania, have never seen caged glass ever since. So, it might be genuine Bohemian (found in part of Romania that belonged to Austria- Hungary at the time).
The cage is similar to examples in another post
Kralik - Caged glass (Vol 1)
Quote from the post: ``This decor is confetti uncased; I have the identical shape in a cased confetti decor.`` I`m not sure I understand it.
Thank you
Ivan, we share the same shape but with different decors - yours seems to have the glass sprinkles on the surface of the glass (uncased)- mine has the glass sprinkles in the middle of the glass (Cased)
1 - Is approximately 3 to 3 1/2”
2 - Not sure
3 - 5”
Oh, I see ``casing`` refers to glass, not metal cage. Will try to find mine and inspect it more closely.Thank you.
