I just found this old Allstate vintage electric train set in my attic. It has No. 9862 on the side of the box. Is this the engine number? It is sold by Sears Soebuck & Co. and manufactured by Columbia Manufacturing Company. Everything seems to be in good condition, including all the leaflets, instructions, etc. Very exciting find!

The engine # looks to be 20. The No. 9862 should be the number of the set you have and would be listed in the catalog as such.

Your set was made by Louis Marx for sale by Sears. So you have a Marx train set.
Here is a Marx site where you will find all the cars and loco listed.
