Looking at the label, this Fukuoka Glass bowl dates from the 1950s.
In this era FTG were right into very graphic decors, with bright, separate colours on relatively simple shapes.

This is such a great bowl. It's a basic flared, rectangular shape of good size, and the hot worked corners are beautifully balanced and proportionate.

The colours are so clear and the ribbon of yellow between the black and softer green just lifts the whole piece.
It's a really great piece of hand made glass.

Sticker to the base: FTG Japan

    Width: 30cm x 23cm Height( to highest point): 23cm

What a gorgeous vintage bowl, a real work of art, and colors so bright you would never guess the age

I am starting to like your taste a bit too much, I remember this taking hold in Canada in the later 60's with similar bowls but not as nice on the inside as this example, much like the eye of a brown eyed susan, gorgeous !~

That is a beautiful piece of glass. What I really like is how they kept such prefect lines and separation between the colors.I would imagine that's not easy to do.

What a compliment Phil! Thank you.
The black is a great touch, I agree.

Yes, not an easy technique at all Jim, and they did a great job!
Many thanks for the love and comment.

I hope someday I will get a chance to see your collection of Japanese glass Karen, when are you opening the museum? Love from (not so) sunny France. W.

Hi there William, maybe you should have stayed in Gracay!
It's a house full of boxes here and some great glass in them. You are welcome anytime here, you just may have to help unpack :)

Unfortunately house move was necessary due to health problems (can't do stairs very well). Most of my glass came with me, but it is also all boxed due to space restrictions, it will re-appear at some stage in the future, until then I have to resist buying any more. I am still doing the lottery so don't rule out a visit at some stage, unpacking mystery glass boxes sounds like an entertaining holiday!

Good luck with the lottery :)
