This was found in a charity shop today! 200 years old. It is from the Georgian period 1815-1820 ish. It is hand painted rather crudely, and there is a fair bit of grit in the finish, so not top quality at all. The shape is called the London shape, and the saucer is very deep, I think they used to pour the tea into the saucers to cool it down!. It's probably made of soft paste porcelain in England.
Very nice with beautiful colors that haven't faded in the least.
I've been sat here trying to make sense of the pattern in the middle of the plate, and three times around the cup. Is it abstract, or is there a meaning in there? It's an odd design for the times.
The colours are gorgeous as jbingham95 has mentioned.
first of all, i think it,is very nice and second of all i wonder if the middle motif =the Babao symbol of learning one of the four signs of the scholar , i am probably wrong
