Hi,
I am trying to identify the artist of this pastel painting.
It is signed (which I cant decipher!) and dated 31 10 1945.
On the reverse of the paper is a stamp referring to the maker of the actual paper. It says they won a bronze medal at the Exposition Universelles - meaning top quality paper.
Also on the back frame is a stamp which I believe is a Belgian "Duty Paid" stamp..import tax ? (I found the painting in Brussels ).
I am guessing it is either French or Belgian -possibly Dutch.
If anyone can identify the signature or has any clues I would really appreciate your help.
To me it is a stunning painting - even more so when you consider it was painted only a few months after the war ended
thanks
Paul
p.s ADMINS - I cant flip the first picture to be the right way round... tried everything can you do it ? thank s
Edit the pic. I find that each pic needs to be edited or it won’t behave. I crop a bit off a side. That should do it.
hi... just tried... but it wont even let me remove the picture now! thanks for the tip though
Hi Vetraio - changing from Firefox to Chrome Browser made a difference...wierd!
BB2 IS here ! The royal seal isn't real clear, but appears to be Belgie. Not French or Dutch. Great painting. Would look great on MY wall !

Hi Blunderbuss,
Yes I agree the stamp is Belgian - its a tax stamp - suggesting it was imported into the country..? meaning it was not Belgian ?
thanks for the interest!
