Didn't you try Wkipedia It's all there. Started in 1878 in Sweden. This looks like maybe one of the early ones.
From the looks of it, I don't believe it's complete. It should have some sort of box on the front at the bottom for "dialing" or "cranking" the phone (not sure what that's actually called). I'm just guessing - I'm not an expert on old telephones.
If you can find a serial number stamped somewhere, you can check this list:

RC's right about the crank, & it would need to be a attached to a magneto. I think this may be an intercom.
Looks to be a L.M Ericsson intercom Mfg. around 1910
