Many years ago a neighbor was emptying her house. I saw this on the edge of a junk truck and wanted to ask if I could have it. Before I did my neighbor across the street said" I would love to have that. Would you ask for me? (I knew the neighbor and she did not) Putting a bit of a greedy heart aside I asked and she was given it. Oh well. Then about a week ago she and her husband were moving it out to the sidewalk. I asked if she was getting rid of it and she said " Yes, do you want it?" Of course I said yes and after all those years it has taken up residence in my house. I love it and it works!!
It is a Model 66 Red Eye Singer treadle with oak cabinet, what's not to love?
Nice machine. Looks to be late 1920s by the look of the cabinet.
Love the decoration. They made some in the earlier part of the century, possibly 1920's when the taste for Egyptian was most popular when they opened Tut's Tomb, with Egyptian decoration on it. The extravagant decoration on yours is quite similar. The cabinet otherwise is very much similar to others they made. Great item and a great story to go with it !~
Thanks fortapache and PhilDMorris. I have the Singer head with a sphinx in gold, it is beautiful!
Is an Owners Manual or instruction book available for model 66? I just acquired one and would like to know more. Cir. 1926-1928
