This bronze parrot statue is 27 1/2" tall, 10"x 7 1/2" base, 6 1/2" at the perch, and 19" from the perch to the tip of the tail
It is marked Phillips on the right side on the back of the base.
When I found it at a garage sale 10 years ago, it reminded me of the Brad Keeler Pottery of California bird figurines that I would always look for, because they always look so real to me. When I got home I got out my Collector's Encyclopedia of California Pottery, by Jack Chipman, and went to the Brad Keeler Pages, where it says that in 1931, after high school, and taking an evening painting class at the University of Southern California, Brad was employed by Phillips Bronze and Brass Company of Los Angeles. Phillips, the same name that was on my bronze parrot! Could it be designed by Brad Keeler? I sent an Email, and photo to Jack Chipman, and this was his reply, and my response.

Bill,
I’m close to 100% certain this is the work of Brad Keeler. It’s quite a find as he was not employed there very long. So, these things have got to be quite scarce.
What are your plans for it?

Jack,
I just found the sculpture this weekend and havn't really thought much
about it other than how old, or where or when it was made. The woman
that I purchased it from didn't know much about it, she bought it at
auction years ago, and had no other info. I just liked the piece, and
bought it, but it hasn't become an heirloom yet! :^) Any Ideas?
Thanks, Bill
. . . And here I am today, still the owner of the Parrot Bronze Statue, wondering what to do! :^D
Thanks for looking, any questions, or comments welcome! :^)
And Thanks to Jack Chipman, for his thoughts on this piece!

As large as it is Bill, it's gotta be super heavy... well at least to us old guys huh?
Congrats on your excellent find :)
It's heavy Rick, but my son can pick it up . . . he's bigger than I am though! :^D No it's not that heavy, I'd say 15 lbs.+- it's hollow cast, not solid. I was, and am, very happy with the find, and the prices that I see for them, just keep going up! B^)
Thanks for your nice comment, and the love Rick, it's always good to get, and to see you! :^)
