Although Loetz.com shows this decor as a variant of PG 1/473, it is also stated that this is most likely a separate decor altogether, and the search for that decor is well under way. We have identified at least eight different shapes and counting, but no "smoking gun" yet. This little cabinet vase stands about 3.5" tall, and about as wide. The dark green ground is peppered with silver/blue spots similar to cisele, but it also has a series of much larger spots, and on top of it all, the silver overlay, which is not marked. But all is perfect, so it doesn't get much better than that. Stay tuned for more news on this decor - it's out there - I can smell it... :)

Hi Warren. I owned slightly taller example about 5" with silver overlay in this decor about 10 years ago. Mine also had silver overlay and on several occasions I've come across the decor with SO. I wonder if maybe it was made for a retailer? Just a possible lead.

Hey Warren, I have a harebrained theory :) Deb has heard it...

I think this decor could be 'Orbulin" a decor listed fairly commonly in references. Orbulina are sea-going micro organisms that were discovered in the mid 1800's. They are round, hence the descriptive name.

The art nouveau era was strongly influenced by the natural discoveries of the time and many Loetz decor names reflect this. This decor has always (to date) been found in silver spots on a creta ground. My theory is that they are stylized Orbulina floating in a green sea.

A good thought Sammy. Some of the shape references are in line with that possibility.
