A lovely Wolseley pattern Sun Helmet to the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders). The Wolseley sports a beautiful red hackle distinctive to the Black Watch. The hackle is tucked into the nice three-fold pagri of the sun helmet. The chinstrap is made by " T.J. WEEKS & SONS 1917." The original chinstrap is in extremely good condition considering it's 100 years old. The Wolseley itself I believe dates to the 1920s, considering the early chinstrap date and the three-fold pagri.
To the interior of the sun helmet is nearly all of it's original tinfoil wrapping, the leather liner is also in extremely good shape. One side of the chinstrap is detached unfortunately, but is held in by a safety pin. Other than that, the chinstrap is in fantastic condition considering it's age. The maker is "E.W. VERO & Co. 7."
Overall the sun helmet is in fantastic condition for it's age, and looks to be very clean as if it was taken straight from when it was being worn abroad by a soldier of the Black Watch.
That sun helmet is a classic.
Thank you very much for the kind comment, Fortapache, I would have to agree, it is a classic!
Best regards,
