Brontosaurus is a great name, it means thunder lizard. It is a name that works unlike Apatosaurus which awkward and more suited for a prescription drug. There are even worse ones that have Greek along with a place name. Anyway it looks like Apatosaurus is on its way out and Brontosaurus is back on. No on with the toy.
I believe this is the waxy brown color Marx Brontosaurus. These would be from about 1972-1975 I believe. They are a bit less valuable than the red brown dinosaurs but are still collectible. In photo 3 the waxiness can be seen along the name Brontosaurus and "70 Long". Not much walking around now that is 70 feet long and weighing 17 tons..
In the last photo it is posing along with my other three Marx Brontosaurus. Dark green is from the 1950s. Gray was sold in the carded set and the most valuable of the lot. Light green was sold in playsets and bagged sets during the 1950s.

This must be a brontosauras, it says so. Besides apatosauras is now classed as a different genus, even if I can't tell them apart.
Marx didn't go much for variegated colour on these did they! !?

Thank you very much racer4four. No they did not. The closest were some early ones which are a bit marbled.
