'Boater hat', a wildly popular style of straw hat in the first quarter of the 1900s.
Manufactured by 'Corti' of Italy, circa 1920.
Though it doesn't fit (people's heads were smaller 'back in the day') and has slight (repairable) damage to the crown, the straw hat had been coated in a very good chemical that has preserved it all this time (though it's as hard as a board to touch).
I found it at my favourite charity shop.
Row Row Row your boat ;p Nice find.
My middle nephew's head might fit it. So.... he can row. ;P
This is so cool!! I have a collection of vintage top hats, but have not been able to acquire a boater hat yet. Nice find!!!! Happy Holidays to you and your family!!
jscott0363, funny thing is: I never find top-hats here at an affordable price. I hope to find one of those next. May you have a blessed and safe Christmas and New Year's.
i've been one like this which fits me - but haven't found it yet. i want to look like a barker when i'm selling plants at the nursery.
