This was a find two weeks ago from the Concord, California Flea Market. A very nice vintage/contemporary(still made, but different style) serving plate/dish, by Jars Ceramics France. It's a large 12 3/4" x 1 1/2" deep, inside x 2 1/8" high including the base ring, outside.
It would be great for serving a pasta, or as a center piece fruit/bread bowl.
From décor.com:
Color: Samoa (Green reactive glaze)
dimensions: 12.8 inches in diameter
Collection Name: Tourron: The Jars Tourron Collection features European elegance with contemporary shapes and lines and fabulous glaze combinations.
Jars ceramics is named after its founder, Pierre Jars. Jars ceramics is known for turning mundane, every day products and elevating them into fine works of functional art. All pieces are meticulously hand made and hand-thrown by expert ceramists in south France. Any piece you purchase has most likely been in the hands of at least 17 Jars ceramists for quality assurance. Jars ceramics are vitrified, which means that they are fired at extraordinarily high temperatures - up to 2340 degrees Fahrenheit - which makes them non-porous and unparalleled for durability. Vitrification also classifies Jars products as stoneware. What sets Jars apart from other stoneware is their use of glazes that are reminiscent of animal, vegetal and mineral substances. The unique glaze finishes are breathtaking and no finish is completely alike. Use Jars ceramics every day; they are elegantly casual! Bring European feel and excellence to your table top or home with Jars France. All pieces are hand made in France. Microwave and dishwasher safe; scratch and chip resistant.
