pair of heavy glass octagonal salt/pepper shakers w/silver caps

I've had this pair for awhile now, probably picked from a junk shop someplace but I don't truly remember where. The only thing I know for certain is that *I liked them* back then ;-) and I still do. :-) Made of octagon shaped glass with thick flat bottomed bases, they are about 1.5" across and stand 4.5" tall. Screw-on caps are (tarnished) silverplate. They have a really nice 'feel' to them being rather heavy for their size, each weighs over 6.5 oz/75g. I have not found any markings on them anywhere, on the glass or the metal tops. I don't really imagine they're all that terribly old (??) but they nonetheless have been around somewhere long enough to have accumulated some small chips/fleabites, mostly around their bottoms. If anybody recognizes anything about them, please speak up! :-) :-) ;-)
