There are many vases of a large variety of décors produced by Franz Welz posted on CW. Here my thanks go firstly to Craig Orkney, who's research opened and deepened the knowledge on Welz' production enormously, and secondly to Jericho Mora who's collection contributed so many examples. My Welz urn vase stands impressive H=28.5 and D=13.5 cm, it has a white opal inner case and is décorated by iridized yellow/blue molten glass pieces that are covered by dark purple bands. I never saw this décor being applied to other Franz Welz pieces.
Gorgeous!
Gorgeous example Kai.
Beautiful colors :)
WOW!! This is a First- but with welz lately there have been many firsts (or great seconds)
The vase is impressively tall and might be a lidded piece- this would make it enormous!!
I don't even know where to start with the decor... the aqua base and white base satin flashed pieces to make sense but TWO base colors? the green/yellow color is also a common one used in marbled pieces but not in this way.... Lastly Welz never drizzled black like this- this is new. the design is very involved with the thin black line being used before the thick black spiral line was applied. Remarkable piece. Thank you for sharing and expanding the known decors of Franz Welz
I would like to thank you All for your kind comments and 'love it'
Just to echo everyone else..gorgeous! Welz never ceases to surprise. It's stunning, the back ground colours, purple drizzle and satin finish, all work so well.
