Hello,
I collect solely art glass items from Nanny Still (Manufacturer Riihimäen Lasi in Finland). This is one of my rarest finds: A nanny Still vase from 1949 and one of the first items ever designed by her. The vase is 29 cm tall and weighs a heavy 1,9 kg. It is truly beautiful. The owner's mother had a friend in the fifties working at the Riihimäen Lasi factory and gave the vase to her as a gift.
The item is pictured in the "Ilmatar" book (picture 3 together with a graal vase). I was in contact with the Glass museum in Riihimäki and they had seen only a black&white picture of the vase but don't have it in their collections. Actually they thought the vase was clear and were surprised to see it in green color.
I will post more Nanny Still items soon.
Amazing vase, such a quirky shape.
Congratulations!
Is there a picture missing? The signature is on a flat surface, but the other picture shows no flat surface. How does is stand up? Is that a stopper? I don't get it! Where do you put the flowers?
Welcome to CW, Scanditech!
This is an amazing Nanny Still piece! I absolutely love it! I have just got a couple of early graal items by her (a Kieli and two shapes of Tohveli) but you can imagine how badly I want more!!! HAHAHA
