I saw this Crown Devon Fieldings musical jug in a charity shop yesterday, and had to have it, although it's not very pretty, and also not pc these days with the hunting theme, but John Peel was my 4 greats grandfather, so I collect all John Peel Memorabilia. John Peel was a Huntsman from Cumberland, (Cumbria now), in England. Very unremarkable except that John Woodcock Graves wrote a song about him which became very popular song - D'ye Ken John Peel. The jug is hand painted, and as I have another of these it's amazing the differences of the painting, (it could be 2 different men!!). The Rd number is 796688, which I believe is 1934, but I think this jug was made for many years.
The fox peeking over the rim is a standout Adele. Well found family!!
I found a small John Peel jug today, which surprised me because I never realised you could get it in different sizes. The small jug is 5" to the rim, the large one 7".
