Lego first began by making toys in 1932. The name LEGO comes from the Danish phrase leg godt, which means "play well".
All their first toys in the 1930s and 40s were wooden and included pull along ducks, dogs and other animals as well as cars and boats and all sorts of things. They also made wooden blocks like these ones here, that were part of a game. In 1949, Lego expanded to begin producing plastic toys and among other new products were an early version of the now familiar lego brick, called "Automatic Binding Bricks". Which quickly replaced the old wooden toys. Plastic was very much the future in 1949 and the old wooden toys were gradually discontinued during the 50s as the company grew the range of the plastic bricks.
That is some hard core Lego action. I have never seen the Lego wooden blocks before.
I have seen a couple of the trucks but not the blocks. I wonder if these started Lego's growing relationship with the bricks in general?
A lego collector's dream those!
Thank you for all the love and support on my top post:)
