This was one of my finds at the Flea Market this past weekend, a very nice Steuben Glass ashtray. I think this is my first piece of Steuben Glass. This is the first Art Glass that I learned about when I was working for the owner of an antique and junque(as she liked to spell it) shoppe, as a boy of thirteen, and have always looked for it in my search for collectables. This beautiful piece of Steuben Art Glass, double sided crimped handles ashtray #7836, was designed by George Thompson in 1939.
The ashtray measures 5 1/8" wide, through the two crimped handles, designed for resting cigarettes, and 4 3/8" across the bowl of the ashtray, it is 1 3/4" high. It is etched on the bottom, below a handle Steuben, in cursive. It's condition is used, with a few minor scratches on the bottom.
Thank you for looking, all comments always welcome! :^)
