Magnificent Sherman Black Japanned Clear Rhinestone Necklace With Silvered White Pearls
Circa Late 1950's to 1960's.
This is the only piece in the book "Sherman Jewellery The Masterpiece Collection" where they deem it high enough to have 2 full page pictures of the necklace in a row !! Quite amazing and rare, very hard to obtain. In mid December it was listed at an exhorbitant, unreasonably high price and I made an offer several days later, because they come up so rarely. They accepted my high offer and I received it late December 22nd, 2017. The white pearls are more a silvery white colour. The beautiful brooch is rare and comes in other colourways, but the necklace in clear is quite rare. I got a pair of ordinary jappaned earrings to match, but there actually is a pair of earrings with the large pearl that are a perfect match but rarely seen. Even the necklace in the book do not show the earrings, so they never had one either. I have included a photo showing the signature on the clasp which is an unusual place for it !~ ...G
Magnificent is certainly the word for this glorious Sherman jewelry, what a marvelous princess-like design with the sparklers & drop pearls together and love the pearls' silvery tint - love it ten times over, thank you for this beautiful post!

This is simply dazzling, and the glowing stones are set off even more beautifully by the japanning -- and your gorgeous photography.
I keep thinking I've seen the pinnacle of Sherman's artistry, Phil, and you keep proving there is yet more to delight and amaze us!
