A very rare and nice MK I 2nd pattern Brodie helmet attributed to the 1/8th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.

The helmet is in pretty good shape considering its age. The original chin strap is partially present but is not complete. To either side of the helmet are 4 vertical division marks, these would've originally been red however have now faded to black. The division markings are 100% period original to the helmet, and identify this helmet to the 8th Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. The 1/8th (The Argyllshire) Battalion landed in France as part of the 152nd Brigade in the 51st (Highland) Division in May 1915 for service on the Western Front.

To the interior of the helmet, the original leather liner is still present and is in overall good shape, however it is a little loose to the helmet. The helmet is not named or dated, but is no doubt from World War One.

This is possibly an Officer's example, but impossible to tell as it could have been used by any rank theoretically.

The helmet is in overall fantastic condition given it's age and is a very rare helmet to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. This specific example has been checked out and archived by the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders museum. Overall a great helmet to the 8th Battalion of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
