I bought this piece of Carnival Glass today. It was very cheap, because there is quite a big chip on the base and a small chip on the rim. I have found out it is Horse Medallion Pattern from Fenton. What I am not sure of is the colour? It looks orange and pinky. I hope someone here may know the correct name for the colour!

Perhaps the color is marigold, but that is just a guess.

I thought it was a bit dark for Marigold, but I am no expert!

carnival glass color is determined by the base color of the glass; from the photos here, this looks to be amethyst. DDoty has a color description page with links to the various colors to compare and also has a write up on the Horse Medallion pattern:

Thanks Tallcakes, I found the link very helpful. I think that if my bowl is a nut bowl, the colour may be pink with marigold over, because the edge looks pink!

Beautiful horse head cameos around the bowl

Very nice AdeleC, I have a friend that would love one like this, I'll have to keep an eye out! :^D Does that chip on the rim, have a little sharp point on it? Maybe take a piece of wet/dry sandpaper, and smooth it so you don't get a cut! :^)

That's a good idea Bill, it is a bit sharp, though not very obvious! Does your friend collect damaged glass, or does it have to be perfect? It was only £3!

She loves horses, but is very particular about condition if she's keeping it! I'll let her know about this Horse Medallion pattern though, because, she'll be looking for one too! :^)

Horses certainly makes a change from the usual Carnival glass patterns. I was attracted to the bowl by the pattern.
