i just love this piece i found at the monthly flea the other day. I didn't think it was Awaji at first, then i noticed this tiny x on the bottom - which is sometimes seen on Awaji to identify a particular worker. But now i believe it is porcelain - possibly Dehua or Blanc de Chine, so it can't be Awaji. The piece is 7 inches tall and extremely finely detailed. Look closely and you'll see a greek key band going around it where the lion's heads are. Someone showed me this one on Christie's - labeled Dehua and it's exactly the same, but mine is approx twice the size and has this lovely rattan wrapping on it. any info or feedback appreciated!

This piece may be 17th century Dehua. http://www.alaintruong.com/archives/2013/05/18/27188187.html

thank you inky, billretirecoll, shareurpassion, and racer! i think it's fantastic. you have to see the very fine detail to really get what a beautiful, special piece this is - regardless of when it was made.
