absolutely GINORMOUS brass 1970's (?) table lamp

What can I say -- this thing just started *screaming* at me [take me home...take me home...you know you wanna take me home...go get a cart and take me home, right NOW!!] the moment I spotted it at the Goodwill this afternoon. (if I'm reading its tag correctly it hadn't quite been there 24hrs?!) I actually didn't buy it immediately (its price being just a wee bit more than I usually pay for old lamps) but got a cheap little mirror instead, which turned out to be too small for what I'd hoped to use it for -- so I took the mirror back and traded it (plus a bit more cash) for the lamp. All good! <LOL>

This thing is absolutely HUGE -- standing a full 3' tall overall. The tapered shade itself (typical neutral colored pleated 'fabric' over now kinda crunchy plastics, in very good but not perfect condition) is 14" across its top, 20" across its bottom, and 20" high. Its 'antique brass' finished spun (?) brass body (hollow anyway, with the most delightful cymbal-like 'ring' to it when tapped with something) is about 18" across its widest part, on a painted (now chipped up, just the paint) wooden base itself about 9" across, which holds the bottom of the shade 15" above the table (stereo speaker, in these pics) it is sitting on. Twin pullchain light sockets with wooden ball fobs are suspended inside. The only thing it doesn't have is the finial to screw the shade to its top -- but I'm certain I already have something suitable already laying around here someplace in a box or drawer...just a matter of coming across it again. ;-) :-) :-)

I don't have the slightest idea who made it (no marks anywhere) nor exactly how old it is, though I've gotta guess 1970's (earlier?) by its late mid-century (??) style. It looks like it has already been rewired in more recent decades as its power cord looks much more contemporary than the rest of it, and I'd think it also possible that its sockets and/or their mounting arms might be replacements of originals, as the brass finish on those parts doesn't really match that on any of the rest of the lamp. [maybe the grandkids knocked it over and busted it years ago, then grandma got it fixed??] Nonetheless, it's in great shape -- and even though it'll have to live on the stereo speaker for now (lacking any other suitably large tabletop space in my house to hold it...did I mention how friggin' BIG this da*ned lamp is?!?] I'm betting it'll eventually look pretty fabulous sitting on the MCM end table I recently found/posted. (but haven't yet managed to get re-finished...stay tuned...) :-) :-) :-)
