This one seemed different than any I have seen. It actully is removable from the pedestal. Actually looks like an award. "Heel"?

I believe this is called a "shoe last" and was used for the construction of shoes back in the day. That is why it is so thick ~ so the nails could be hammered through the leather during manufacture. It's hard to pin a date on it, but I have some from the early 20th Cent. that are two pieces (heel & toe), so I suspect this might be much earlier than that. In fact, it might even date back to the days when they made shoes the same whether they went on the left or right foot. Makers didn't differentiate until sometime in the mid 1800's, you know.

      Nice piece!
