Well spring is coming and that means more trunk collecting! Picked up this lovely leather covered painted over trunk to work on. Has Romadka patented circular rotating wheels underneath. These always come out looking great and all the leather is intact! Last pic just started the reno..
Nice one T-man!! I love the hardware and the tooling in the leather is beautiful!! Can't wait to see the finished product. Looking great already.
nice piece, what are you using on the leather to remove the paint, on my Jenny Lind that was painted, I used Formby's furniture refinisher and a soft nylon brush worked well. looks like the leather is somewhat bubbled on the top.
Thanks so much JS ! Yah Greendog it’s slightly bubbles in two places but not enough to warrant remedial treatment... I just use furniture stripper on leather and fine steel wool... seems to work well enough... thanks for the comments!
It's looking great! I'm looking forward to seeing the "after" pictures.
I was wondering if you could inject some glue with a turkey injector and smooth that top out a bit, would make a small hole, but I don't think you would notice, just a thought, greendog.
Greendog it’s a possible direction, although the leather is fairly stiff, I think I made need to cut out a small section along the edge for it to lay flat...
yeah that would probably work, after you get done stripping and cleaning you might be able to soften the leather with a conditioner or just leave it as is,
