    (175 items)

    Hello Everyone.
A recent purchase for a very good price......someone has said that we are not to discuss price now........is this true??
Anyway, I was really surprised when this ring arrived as I expected it to look like Picture 1, which I thought might have been Carnelian........
Took the ring outside in shaded light and Picture 2&3 is what happened!!
I knew I had seen this effect before as I had solved a mystery for it, but could not for the life of me remember what it was called!!!
Started searching google and eventually found the Dragon's Breath again.
Would date to 1920s/30s I would think.
    Hallmarked STERLING, unknown maker......
Certainly Arts and Crafts with the double split shank and the little leaf? decoration on each side......
I really enjoy having this ring......it is just so pretty and is a pinky ring. I hope you like seeing it, and all comments or thoughts welcome.
I will post a link in comments to a site that explains Dragon's Breath .

What a beautiful color stone in this sterling ring Judy, I love the way it changes in different lighting - wonderful find. I know there are so many CW rules to watch out for, my friend got in trouble for referring someone to a website (she knew you, collected Dresden porcelain - she actually told me how much she enjoyed this site and got me started, but told me to be careful). Now with the new merger who knows, right - nothing is forever, but for now it's been fun for me

Hi Jenni, thanks, glad you like this ring :-)
That was such a shame with your friend, she was really lovely on here and several cw friends commented how much she would be missed! Please say hello to her from me:-)

I would still be more than happy if they would fix the email notifications!!
There seems to be another person every day saying they have the problem!!
I still haven't heard if the cw engineers have found any reason for it yet!

It is fun though, seeing so many different things that people collect, learning so much, and even having a joke with some lovely people!! Let's hope it will continue :-) )

What’s appropriate on Show and Tell?

Show & Tell is a place where you can share your favorite vintage items and antiques with visitors to CollectorsWeekly.com, whether it’s a piece from your collection, something cool you saw while out picking, or a collectors event you’ve recently attended. While an item’s value can certainly be a part of the conversation, Show & Tell is mostly a forum for communicating with other users to learn more about the pieces you own.

If you’re looking for an item’s value, check out Barnebys’ online appraisal service rather than posting it on Show & Tell.

Please read the following guidelines before posting and commenting on Show & Tell. We reserve the right to delete content that doesn’t comply with these guidelines or that we deem inappropriate for any reason, and also to approve any content we believe is in the spirit of Show & Tell.

      In your item postings:

Don’t post items that are for sale anywhere, be it a live auction, eBay, Etsy, craigslist, etc.
Don’t post items to get a price for a future sale anywhere.
Don’t engage in self-promotion in posts and comments.
Don’t post items that are really ads for services or upcoming events.
Don’t post items you’ve made yourself as products to sell.
Don’t post images that you don’t have the rights to.
Be sure to include as much information as possible in your item’s description so other users can give you good feedback.

      In your comments:

Be respectful. Personal attacks or offensive language of any kind will not be tolerated.
Stay on-topic. Take digressions and side conversations elsewhere.
Don’t try to buy, sell, or advertise items or services.

      Hi Tassie,

This first one seems to be new. We should no longer advise posters to go to eBay/Etsy/rubylane etc. to look for an item's value, and the following seems to be important too: Don’t post items to get a price for a future sale anywhere.

Thank you for the kindness about my friend J., she will appreciate very much. Gillian has set us straight about the current rules, good to know. BTW I am now receiving notification emails, occasional comments, that's progress. Again, love this ring!

It's a BEAUTY Judy!! The first time I've heard of a Dragon's Breath stone.

Thanks Gillian for going to so much trouble to post the rules, very handy to refresh the memory every so often:-) I do wish the one off posters would read the rules as well!!

Thank you Eileen, glad you like the ring, the colour really is amazing and my photos do not show it up as well as I would like it to!
A swap meet?! No way in the world would I ever post any items that I love in order to swap them! I Buy what I love for a price I can afford and I am not interested in selling or having valuations done! I post my items because I am a collector and I think that other collectors may like to see my items.

Thanks Jenni, glad you love the ring! My turn to get emails must be coming soon!

Thanks Jean, appreciate the nice comment:-)

Thank you Scott, it's a great piece isn't it. ......just as well the seller didn't know what it was!!

I thought I had commented on this Judy but it isn't appearing so I'll try again!
That's glass stone is a beauty. I had a look at the link and it was a very interesting read about dragon's blood.
Your ring is fab, and I do like at times to hear about a bargain! Love the split and the little leaf. Do you think it Aussie?
I'm still waiting for emails too.
    18. kyratango kyratango, 7 years ago
Dragon's breath is a... breath taking art glass!
Be careful wearing it, it get scratched and scuffed easily...

I totally agree with your comment #12, same for me :-))
    19. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 7 years ago
Hi Karen, thank you and glad you enjoyed the article. I tend to think it is American with just the "STERLING" mark......it's a bit of a show stopper when the colour pops out! I love it:-)

Isn't it so annoying to not be receiving emails.......twice a day I look through "most recent loves and likes" as well as "most recent comments" to see if I can spot anything for my posts! I would hate for anyone to think I didn't appreciate their interest!!

We can only hope that it will be sorted soon!!
    20. TassieDevil TassieDevil, 7 years ago
Hi Pascale, thank you.....it is for sure! I found the post for your Dragon's Breath ........very nice even if a bit scratched! Mine has some damage already that I forgot to mention in my post, but that's ok, I can still wear it and am happy to have it in my collection :-)

Thank you for the love and for understanding my bit of a rant in comment 12, I knew you would:-) :-)

      I love Dragons Breath TassieDevil!
My mom has a piece that was her Aunt Ethels. Aunt Ethel was a little out there, she kept everything she ever got. I remember her house very well, Auntie never barred anyone from coming in. The family had a hard time getting into the rooms of her home after her passing, and it looked like she had just thrown stuff around. But, getting into it I remember mom finding a room with items, and paper inventory stating where Auntie wanted it to go. It was included in the will but no one had been able to get into the room until the hallway was cleared. A beautiful bar pin with a gorgeous Dragons Breath stone was one of the items that she wanted mom to have. I will take pics of it and put them here sometime :)

This ring is beautiful! Thanks for putting it up here for us all.

Aw, thank you Tlynnie, very happy that you love this ring:-)
Would love to see your mother's brooch when you have time to post!

Thanks for telling your story of how your mum came to have the brooch, a great piece of family history for you and what a character Aunt Ethel must have been:-)
I actually remember my mother having an Uncle who had a lifestyle like Aunt Ethel, he always seemed happy to have us visit.
