    IronLace
    (928 items)

This large Victorian vase is made from two layers of cased glass, white with a deep pink interior. It measures 29 cm tall, 16.5 cm across the double crimped top rim, & 12 cm across the applied footed base. The vase has applied decoration of a zigzag branch with leaves & a trumpet shaped flower in amber glass, with the three footed base having the appearance of stylised leaves. There is also an applied amber crest on the top rim.
Unlike much glass of this type, this vase does not contain any uranium.
I feel that it is most likely Bohemian, although similar items were made in England.

Many thanks, shareurpassion! Yes, that such pieces have endured the years continues to astonish me, too...very grateful that they have!

IronLace, WOW! What a beauty, and HUGE! Too bad in the photograph, it doesn't look that big. It's one that must look even greater in person. You're very lucky to have it! :^)

Thanks, billretirecoll, yes, sometimes things can look a little smaller in photos...I may have to take a comparison photo of this one with another even bigger vase with applied flowers I have in my collection...

Thanks also, sklo42! Yes, there is such wonderful attention to detail on these applied pieces, & so many variations...I was very taken by the applied feet, which are quite different.

Very nice piece to have in any collection. Looks very much like a Stevens and Williams vase.

Don't know how I missed-- love it!

      Agree, most likely bohemian.

I was wondering if you still have this piece. I recently acquired one at auction in my hometown of Memphis TN. In the 4 years since your post have you learned more about it.such as the maker or the age? Mine differs from yours because the feet are slightly chipped but not visible when standing
any additional info on this piece will be most appreciated thank you

Hi Memphisjoan, yes I do still have this one.
Over the last four years I have not found any more information on this piece but I do still think it is Bohemian rather than English in origin. This style was quite popular in the late 19th century, & was most likely made by various manufacturers.
Most of these pieces do tend to have a little damage, hard to avoid due to both age & complexity of them, I personally am fine to overlook a few chips here & there if the price is right & it still displays nicely.

Hi Ironlace. Thanks for responding so quickly. I actually won 2 of these beauties at the auction and I’ve considered selling 1 but the thought of it getting damaged in shipping scares me to death. It’s survived this long I would hate to ruin it now that it’s in my care.
