This unusual vase by Fenton is a rare example of their version of Peloton glass. It is made from their so - called "Blue Burmese" (in my opinion, it's not a bit like Burmese glass, nor is it blue...) which on this piece shades from pink to a muted mauve shade. The vase measures 13.2 cm tall, 10.5 cm across the wavy, loosely crimped top rim, & 4.7 cm across the base.
It has applied Peloton threads in red, iridescent blue, yellow, & white.
Dates from 1984 & was apparently made as a special order for the Fenton Art Glass Collectors Association.
As I have a great enthusiasm for Peloton glass, it interested me as being a late 20th century version of this relatively obscure decor. And it sits quite well with my Victorian glass.
this reproduction vase pattern was originally made by Imperial Glass as their #721 Thumbprint and Oval. Fenton acquired many of Imperial's molds upon their closing, and Fenton made this reproduction vase as their #9050 (often called Flute and Dot) in various colors and finishes for many years. Not sure what Fenton may have called this color combination but agree that it does not match their Burmese line; this may be a special order for QVC. Does you vase happen to have a Fenton mark?
Thanks for your input, tallcakes. When I purchased this, I was informed that it dated from 1984, which precedes Fenton's involvement with QVC by two years. That association started in 1986. There is no mark on the base. Looking at the other types of Fenton Burmese, including the "Blue" variety, it doesn't really fit. The other examples of Blue Burmese I've seen are more of a greyish blue to pink shade. The glossy finish on this also makes it a bit different. I have seen a picture of another piece of Fenton Peloton glass, a small vase also in Blue Burmese, which basically looks a very pale blue-grey with a pink rim at the top.

A lovely vase and I can see how well it would blend in with your other Peloton glass. Perhaps a lesson for me in not taking anything for granted!
Many thanks, sklo42, yes it does go well with the others, it has a Victorian style, as a lot of Fenton glass tends to have. As they made hand vases & Burmese glass, I also have a smattering of Fenton examples of those as well. Sad that they went out business a few years back as they did keep the flag flying for Victorian style techniques.
Pretty vase with something distinctive,difficult to express,what says that this is in Victorian style but not so old.Perhaps the shining or a bit changed shade of pink...
