To continue the Bunny theme, i decided to join it with one of my own =)
Presented is a yellow mohair? velveteen bunny rabbit with pink/purple glass eyes. He came from an antique store sale that was going out of business. The seller said he was made in occupied Japan, and my research supports this statement. He is reading Alice in Wonderland, a really beat up copy of the book published by Grosset and Dunlap in 1963. It was found at an estate sale, and while i would typically hesitate to buy a book in such poor condition, I really liked the whimsical old-fashioned artwork in it.
Love both of these ,the bunny looks in great shape!
Love the way the bunny is "reading" the book, adorable
Oh Anna,
I love the bunny and the book! They're both GREAT!!
Such a cute post Anna :-) love love
Anna, what a sweet bunny rabbit and a lovely book, too. I've not seen that Italian edition!
A fine rabbit but mohair would predate occupied Japan. I still have the Teddy Bear ID site up so I am just going by that. No clue how to ID mohair myself.
Fortapache, thank you, I honestly don't know if this is mohair, i just used this term loosely (and i should probably not). I have no way of testing the fabric, too, as the bunny doesn't have any extra fibers to spare for the burn test (it goes like this- the mohair strands would burn a little and leave the ash residue, and synthetic material would melt and smell plastic-y). Your bear ID site was priceless!
Laura, thank you for your nice comment. So it is an Italian version, good to know!
Mani- thank you dearly, always happy to see you =)
Thomas- thank you for your kind words and love!
Scott, thank you for your compliment and appreciation! It was a nod to your fine rabbits =)
Jenni, thank you for your lovely comment and your love!
Roy, many thanks, as always a pleasure to see you!
Vetra, Karen, Mike, Ken, officialfuel- thank you for stopping by with your loves!
Maraja was a very famous Italian illustrator. You have a real gem here!
Thank you Laura, i didn't know that. How much snow did you get? Do you have power?
Thank you for stopping by and your love- Laura, Elainep, TassieDevil, iggy, fortapache!
Very cute AnnaB, I bet your rabbit, would have a great time with Laura's bears, reading and chasing each other, until the got tired and fell asleep! :^)
Anna, we never lost power, but we lost internet, landline and TV. We got maybe about 5 inches, but it was the heavy, wet snow and the wind that did everyone in, I think. Looks like we're set to get another storm on Wednesday!!!!!
Bill, that sounds like a fun idea. I'm thinking Anna's rabbit would "out hop" the bears. :)
Bill, Laura, thank you for making me smile at the thought of this circus...!
Bill, buckethead, Scott, Sean- your loves are much appreciated as always!
cutie!!
