Hello everyone!!!
We've had these for quite a while. They're heavy cast iron moon gazing hares. They stand at 8" tall and weigh nearly 5 lbs each. We found these several years back at an antique mall in Louisville. They were priced very inexpensively and we couldn't pass them up. Though they're intended to be used as bookends, we mainly use these as doorstops. They work quite well in either situation. These are not what I'd call vintage, but highly collectible.
By the way, the books are early 1900 editions of The Works of Robert Louis Stevenson. I'm not truly sure how old these books are, but the original owners name is scripted inside each book and a postcard dated 1921 that is addressed to this person. I'm not truly sure hold old the Rudyard Kipling books are.
Hope you enjoy and thank you all for stopping by!!!
Scott
How lovely are these, and such an adorable pose staring up to the skies!
Jenni,
Thanks so very much!!! I've seen several different styles of moon gazing hares and there are others that I like much better than these, but a bit out of my budget though:)
Thank you all very much for the loves and for stopping by!!

They are a great shape Scott. Head up, long ears down, just great.
Thanks Karen!! I don't think these are too old. Probably no more than 10-20 years old.
Thanks so very much for the loves, comments and for stopping by!!!

Beautiful, AND they look like gold foil wrapped Lindt chocolate bunnies.
