This seems to be a little wooden figurine of Pinocchio that was found in a charity shop only about two years ago. All of his limbs and joints are fully movable with little wires and screws which allows him to sit freely on a shelf as the bottom picture shows. He also has some faded and chipped paint on him and shows quiet a bit of age. Since he doesn't seem to be based on the 'Disney' Pinocchio he may be from before the film and/or simply modelled on the character from the story book instead. There are no marks or signatures on him anywhere so I'd be curious to find out if he's folk art or not. In regards to how old he is, where he originates from or what wood he's made from I'd love to know. Cost €3
Very cute . I don't see a lot of age but more of a decor piece . perhaps someone will know more about him :-) He is not marked Disney so not a licensed Disney Pinocchio :-)
Thanks Manikin- Yeah we thought he may be just a simple carving made by someone judging the pictures they seen of him in the storybook instead of, y'know, just watching the Disney film!
He actually looks like a poured resin figure not carved to my eye but still cute :-)
Do you think so? we always thought he was carved wood and just painted, but,.....guess we'll never know :)
