Cool, you have a dresser or bureau trunk. You don't see these a lot so, yeah, they are kinda rare. Nailing down a value is kinda hard since they aren't seen for sale a lot and condition is important. If you can find one like yours in the same condition that sold recently you would have an idea of what it is worth but good luck with that. You can look around online and see what others are going for (the few that are out there) and get an idea but mostly it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Manufacturer is another iffy thing. Unless you can find a plate or sticker with the makers name on it somewhere on the trunk it could have been made by any of a few people. They tended to use the same hardware from the same vendors and quite often the styles didn't vary enough to be able to nail them down much. Age is the same way, certain styles came along and certain hardware was used at certain times but it's still tough to nail down for the most part. Restoration cost depends on it's shape and what you want to do to it. Do you want it to look like new or just clean it up and knock the rust off? Do it yourself or send it off to someone for a professional restoration? In other words I'm no help at all to you I suppose. LOL Sorry about that but really these are hard to find and many folks would like to have one, especially around here. Yours looks a bit rough but it's a long way from hauling to the dump. Here are a couple links you might find useful, people who do restorations and some history on trunks.
