Picked this up around the corner from home a week after driving 3 1/2 hrs one way,... with a wrong turn made it 10 hrs total for a trunk the same but with slight difference in the corner front and hing hardware and the lock. Not sure if this could be by Abe Foot. Maybe some of the other hardware can be directed to a different specific maker. Interior is shot.... but very unusual belt buckle handle caps they don't look as big as they are in the photos, but they measure an amazing 2" wide. Original handles 100% exterior hardware. original leather remnants. Corbin lock working with key. 34" long 29" high by 21 1/2" deep. One of my top favorites now....I like cast hardware the more the better!
Love the belt buckle clasps ... never saw those before! The other hardware I’ve seen on a variety of trunks so I assume they are parts ordered. Nice find!
Thanks! The handle caps were unexpected by me and was very happy about that. I have read your stories about your trunk journeys and nice to find I am not alone and not the only nut in the basket. lol I always find the way there is filled with a mild tension, but once it is in your car,.. your mind and body can chill out and enjoy the trip home occasionally glancing at it in the rear view mirror to help you along the way...but that could be just me. lol Thanks again!
Very nice, this is my kind of trunk, I agree, the more cast hardware the better, like trunkman said , never seen the belt buckle hardware, always great to find something different and unique, not much for flat tops although I have bought a few, but with with the old round tops, I'am like a moth to a light, love it, greendog.
Totally nailed the glance in the rear view mirror on the way back from a trunk run... yah you got the same bug!
Thanks Greendog! I am very familiar with you & your work. I am not much for flat tops or roll tops either, but I do have some, but again must be outside the common and are picked up only as a trunk example that I don't have. Also some just for various parts would be my other reason. Period leather straps etc.
Trunkman..the soothing glance my very well be a mainstay for all of us with this addiction to the beauty of an old trunk. Thanks again!
