Hi. After hours of fruitless searching online for images of this piece, I decided to see if I could crowdsource some knowledge. Found this forum today, so hopefully someone here can help identify it.
I bought it at an estate sale, and the story I was told by a friend of the family working there is that it was brought back from Sweden by the deceased in the 1960s. It's a really nice, heavy piece; clear/topaz orange glass with evenly-spaced circular knobs on the front and back, subtly-ribbed sides, and a clean bevel cut around the rim. The only thing I've found that looks remotely similar are those Whitefriar Baxter "mobile phone" vases, but the knobs on those are only on the bottom half and not as evenly-spaced. The cut on the top is similar to that of a Strombershyttan vase. No etched signature or other markings/labels.
4" wide, 2" deep, 9.5" tall.
Thank you for any help you can provide!
It’s gorgeous.
Welcome to CW, and as Adele has said it's a gorgeous vase. We have a few Scandinavian glass collectors here, and I hope one or two pop by.
After much sleuthing, I've learned it's a Bengt Edenfalk piece for Skruf! Still haven't found an image of this particular design online, but I did find an amazing decanter set he did in the same style that sold on eBay recently.
Hi,
This got cross-posted to Reddit and I asked my father (who is an avid glass collector of some 20 years - literally has rooms full of the stuff) to have a crack at identifying this piece. He said it was extremely unusual and would appreciate any more info you've got - can you link the Ebay listing?
Here's the eBay listing:
