Very neat old volunteer fire company blue light. Will make a great desk display piece especially if a slow pulsing LED is added behind the lens. Restore or leave original? I kind of like the patina. Do you this this light was even visible back in the day? I'm thinking it was a 50's item when 6v was common on cars. Anyone know when this light would have been made?

Picture of light on car was found on the internet, not mine.

As someone who works in the museum business, I would leave it original. The less you do to it the better. I certainly has more character untouched.

Looks great-- no need to restore. Discoloration/ minute paint loss shows it is original.

I see too much OVER- restoration these days. Value and character is loss when an item is restored to new condition.

I have restored roughly fifty of these lights and returned them to their fire departments of origin. I first did this as a fund raiser for a 20 year old fire fighter who had cancer. The response was so overwhelming, I continued to restore them after his passing. I gifted the remainder of them back to their respective fire companies. They were fabricated at KOONS FOUNDRY in Secaucus, New Jersey.
Fire Companies LOVED getting these back. I recently recovered 40 of these hanging in a barn on the south shore of Long Island. I have restored and returned all of them.

@Jersey57 my brother has one both he and my dad used. The lens broke when it fell off his mantle. Can you help us find a replacement? Thanks!

@agetvt I would be glad to help out. Can you send me a picture of the broken lens? I should have some extras. Will provide free of charge and shipping.
