I bought this vase because it was different. It was sold as Loetz/kralik but I was rather sure it was neither. The things that made me think maybe Welz are the handle and Welzebub's pink vase. The handle is very much like the thorn handles seen on the Welz zipper and spiral feather decors. The construction is similar to the way Craig's pink vase is, however very different color combination. The ground is a lemon yellow with a layer of pale amethyst creating the crackle affect. Then a layer of small amethyst frit on top of that. The final layer is at the top, the amethyst drips, which cover the frit and crackle. It can be seen through the smooth glass. I don't think it shows in the pictures very well, but you can see the amethyst layer in the polished pontil. All the amethyst has an iris type iridescence. I personally have never seen Welz with a ground and polished pontil, but I'm not an expert. Unfortunately two of the drips are damaged, one on a handle and one on what is now the back. So, any ideas on actual maker if not Welz will be appreciated as always.

This is a Great example!! I was watching this piece, and although I can not say 100% that it is Welz, it is certainly in their aesthetic. The coloration and techniques used to make it are quite similar to the yellow fritted piece I posted in the last image of the pink vase I posted recently. My yellow example also has a faint amethyst hue to it. Although I can not say this is Welz for sure, I would actually be a little surprised if it is not....

Thanks Craig. After I posted this I went back to look at your pink vase again and noticed the yellow one. Somehow the amethyst on yellow did not register in my head when I first viewed it. Got excited when I saw it.
Thanks inky for the link to your vase. I love it. I don't remember seeing it before. I would not have had any doubts if I had remembered it.
