Hi All,
Without the kindness of a fellow collector here who, out of the blue, sent me the thorn vase in the first picture.
A gesture of kindness from someone I barely know and never met that lifted my spirits and faith in human nature. There really are some kind souls around.
Thank you..(plus 3 look so much better than 2:)
The dimpled vase was purchased cheap as it's had a repair.
An odd one. The base appears to be patched with what looks like varnished wax paper. It's hard to touch and water proof.
I can't imagine how the damage got there. It doesn't look like there're any joins in the area that could cause a leak, the foot keeps the base from coming into contact with anything and the rest of the vase is in pristine condition, without even a nibbled rim or foot.
A mystery.
Thank you everyone.
Apologies if I don't get back to comments quickly, for some reason email alerts haven't been working.
Thank you Peggy.
Thank you AdeleC
I adore your new Welz vase. I've never seen anything like it.....except for its foot of course, which has been seen before. Someone (Ian I think) called it a 'splash' foot.
BEAUTIFUL Vases!
