This is a hand-carved wooden monk taking a nip of alcohol. i think he might have a little problem with it. although it says 'Italy', this drunken monk was a common theme in California crafts from the 1930s-60s.

Oh, I love your little Monk!! I live about 15 minutes away from the Abby of Gethsemani where the monks live, work and pray. It's a beautiful and serene place to visit. Oh, and they're bourbon fudge is AMAZING!!!

This is a very cute monk, very nicely carved.

Bourbon fudge, Scott? I've never wanted bourbon fudge at 7 a.m., but I do now!

Believe it or not, the monks have an online store that you can buy it from. Oh, and you'll need a chaser with that fudge. It has a lot of bourbon in it. After all, it's made right here in the heart of bourbon country:)
