Have never seen the like. I strongly suspect USA manufacture -- very keen to know more, as have been offered this pair. Each measures 22cm wide by 15cm deep. Small hole on each handset with what seems a pin for plug...perhaps for a watch receiver (extra listening device for second person during a call). No date or name marked whatsoever...which is peculiar.
Anyone au fait ? Hugely appreciate a knowledgeable reply ... many thanks !
There were made in the 1950s by Chad Valley and are described as Bakerlite intercom set toy telephones. Neil
Nice info Neil, and they are such a cool pair Alchemy!
You're welcome. Neil
Very cool set ! love love
Thanks, Neil. You confirm my initial instinctive thought that these were Chad Valley, but the size puzzles me. Very off-putting is the small hole in each handset, which has deterred me from buying at $NZ65 asking price, however the weird colouring does appeal !
the burr walnut effect is just fabilus & the colouring of different period telephones fascinates me & me best mate a 49 er plus some of my relatives emigrated to new zealend in 1950,s
love your passion alchemy49 !!!!!!!!
