Vintage telephone collector since 1985...midst of with the 1980s British bakelite telephone revival, coinciding with resurgence of art deco. Salvaged the surviving 1933 pyramid Gecophones from Glemeagles Hotel, Perthshire, Scotland in 1986...very rare due pewter & bronze coating over prototype wine and/or mahogany hued bakelite, never officially issued, the experimental colours sprayed over to complement the hotel's lavish 1930s decor. Two of my rarities sold for average £4,750 each at auction on April 6, 2016 in Edinburgh, Scotland, at Lyon & Turnbull's specialist Arts and Design auction.
Am semi-retired, now living in Auckland, New Zealand...after 25 years in UK. I still savour restoring and converting mainly bakelite telephones for the NZ market. (Read more)
