I have had this coin for a number of years since I discovered it in circulation. Have not seen it in any of the nickel error coin information. The head side is not ground off but simply indistinct but raised and blurry. The Monticello on the head side is clearer but indented and the word Monticello is in reverse lettering. No date is discernible. Any ideas on this coin?
That is a $100.00 nickel, if not more. Show it to the error collecting crowd and I'm sure they will be interested.
I don't see how letters could be reversed since they are die stamped ?
I have a link here for you. It is a quite comprehensive and extensive listing of all known errors.
