This 2" ribbed frog brooch is in a lively pose, with emerald green cabochon eyes & faux coral beads accenting his textured goldtone body, by Hattie Carnegie (1918-1979). The 3 1-2"H x 4"W glass bullfrog paperweight is a mix of emerald green with black shading, and is by Viking Glass of WV, item #7763 from their 1978-1979 catalog.
As promised, hope you enjoy this Mary P - aren't two frogs better than one!
Love both, but the glass frog is especially endearing.
These are both gorgeous Jenni! :-) )
GREAT little frogs Jenni. I love them both.
So glad you liked them Anik & thanx for the kind words - the glass frog was a real challenge because in weak winter sunlight the green hardly shows up, now we're in Spring I was able to get a good pic
Judy I really appreciate your kind compliments always, you are very kind to me
Scott I'm glad you were pleased with both, as I told my friend I originally wanted to post the glass frog on Paddy's Day, but thought to wait for a brooch to liven him up a little
Grateful for the luv all you nice folks

It's a Midwife Toad!
The male carries the eggs on his back like that. How weird ashe made one of those! I wonder if it was for a Natural museum gift shop or something? The real life eggs (Embryos) ARE the color of coral.
oh celiene hits the nail on the head both stunning pieces the emerald isle green frog amazing
i recall having our old 1950s curved fridge door put in the garden filled with water then i put frog spawn & my cousin david from wales gave me a big lump of jelly bait feed for fish and the tadpoles gorged themselves on it in frenzy & there was toad poles then before new it there 100s of wee frogs jumping everywhere
oh thank you for the memorys jenni
lots love malkey
you have made my night so much better
Love both, but little froggie is Super Cute !! Awwwww....
Celiene thank you so much for identifying the midwife toad, that is so cool the male carries the eggs & they are coral colored! Hattie Carnegie made a lot of offbeat stuff, but amazing this is reality based - I know there are other males of the species that can carry eggs or embryos (seahorses & kangaroos come to mind, tho I'm not positive) but this one was news to me, super thanx
Oh I'm so happy to bring back good memories for you Malkey, you always say the sweetest nicest things & it's always from your heart, glad you enjoyed my froggys
Rose thank you for the kind compliment on the Carnegie frog, I love when I do a duo post and some prefer one to the other, makes things interesting & not boring
All the loves give me great joy, thank you

Very glad you saw my frogs Mary & glad you enjoyed them, thanx 4 luv
The green of yours glass frog is wonderful, like moss.
Carnegie is always good too!
I'm really happy you liked them both Karen, thanks so much for the kind compliments which are always so wonderful
Both are just lovely! I love the coral and emerald accents and the texture of the brooch.
My froggies thank you for the kind words & love Laura, thought the Carnegie brooch was very unusual - Celiene tells me it's a midwife toad & the coral beads are eggs it carries, probably so
Many thanks for the luv Sean
So glad you enjoyed my frog duo buckethead & grateful for the luv
I've never heard of that- a midwife toad! Amazing!
I know Laura, I still have to check that out online. Hattie Carnegie used other designers like Kenneth Jay Lane for a lot of her jewelry, this frog was done by a designer I saw on a search engine but of course can't find it again (those search sites are so ADD, you see something once then it's buried under TMI), but I noticed the coral beading was made in different colors like turquoise on this frog, so don't think the designer was aware of the midwife type
Thanks so much MrsT for the kind luv & support, glad you enjoyed this
Hey Jenni, I don't know how I missed this post, but here I am! :^D These are both interesting, the Toad brooch, I thought I had seen a Toad like that in a old Living Things book that I had as a child, but couldn't remember the name of it, and thought it was interesting that it was made into a brooch, cool! B^o The Viking Glass Bullfrog has a different base, then I've seen before, I guess the flange on the bottom, keeps it flat, and from marking things, and tearing something, when pulling it from underneath. Thank you for the post, and the information that Celiene gave us about the toad too! :^)
Thanks so much for the kind words Bill, glad you liked these two. I know, it's so great when people contribute info and you learn more about something, that's what's great about CW - it's educational and fun too! Thanks again to Celiene. About the Viking platform animals, they only did that a handful of times, perhaps to make them more paperweight-specific so they had a purpose - most of them were just called window glass animals for their aesthetic beauty
Appreciate the luv KKK, thank you so much
Thanks Lise and Austin_p1 for the kind love, it's very much appreciated
Thank you so much vcal for the love for this Viking frog duo & other posts of mine, you are most generous & kind and I'm very grateful
