I bought this thinking it was peloton glass, but can it be peloton if the canes are on the surface? The glass is a greeny yellow spatter on a clear ground with amethyst canes of glass on top. The amethyst canes are highly glossy but the glass below is satin. At some angles the amethyst canes look to be emerald green.

      What a great find!
I will say that with regards to peloton it can be blended in or proud of the surface. Can depend on any other surface treatments the piece may have, eg. satin finish. So even though this is not peloton as such, it's in the ballpark for using applied short, broken threads, in this case applied after a satin finish. I have some cased vases that have pink peloton over peach spatter & the whole lot is satinized & totally blended in...so lots of room for variations on the theme.

      It's wonderful peloton Peggy!
Did Kralik label these bacillus or is that a modern name for these non-bacterial glass pieces?
    8. welzebub welzebub, 7 years ago
It is a name given by a researcher quite a few years ago. There are really very few of the factory names known for their decors, especially the earlier ones.

Thank you, Malkey, it is indeed a beautiful décor. Satin to the touch and glossy (the amethyst canes) to the eye! Best wishes.......

As you say, Ivonne, Beautiful Baccilus! It's certainly one of their more attractive décors.

Beautiful Peggy. I thought it was Peloton too at first. As IronLace said 'it's in the ballpark'. Great post and comments, very informative. Ty
