University of Wisconsin Gold Pins
This is a set of two University of Wisconsin class pins. The first pin is a University of Wisconsin 1905 gold Alumni pin. This is a small irregular shaped pin of red enamel and real gold. The back is marked “Trade Mark CMR” in a diamond shaped border above “Solid Gold” which means it is a minimum of 10k gold. The total weight of this pin including the pin and enamel is 1.3 grams. (This works out to a melt value of about 21.00.)
The second pin is an undated pin from Milwaukee’s Downer College which became the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) in the 1950’s. This pin is marked “Bunde and Upmeyer F” on the back which means that this pin was made before 1934 when the firm was sold. This pin is gold plated since there is no gold content indicated on the pin.
