    (928 items)

Rainbows aren't only to be found high in the skies...& at the end of my rainbow, lies not a pot of gold but some of the finest glass in my collection. A candy - coloured spectrum of fabulousness, in satin, spatter, spangles, & stripes, from some of the great glassmakers of the 19th century including Harrach, Thomas Webb & Sons, & others I wish I could give full credit to...
Oh, & I also popped in a wee rainbow ornament just for fun...& today while waiting for a bus, I found a rainbow right at my feet.

You might appreciate this magazine catalog page for the 1960's and later, when Koscherak Brothers of New York did a revival of some of this type of glass, made in Italy, but not by which glass producer.
Today you find several KB labels on traditional Murano glass pieces, as well as some antique UK glass companies and USA glass makers as well as Bohemian.
My purpose is to inform, as I bought some of these glass pieces 3 years ago and sold them as genuine, not knowing, these reproductions even existed.

See these sites for more information:

Thanks for the info, truthordare...I have earlier posted a Murano reproduction of rainbow satin glass, a tumbler. However, I do firmly believe that from my own extensive research & practical knowledge from handling such pieces, that there are no reproduction items among this particular selection of pieces. The repro satin glass has a very different feel to it, as it has been sand - blasted rather than given an acid treatment, which makes it a little granular rather than silky smooth...

Also, the rainbow doesn't blend in seamlessly on the repro pieces, there tends to be a dark line between the yellow & blue stripes (I know this as I have a Murano rainbow satin paperweight with exactly such a stripe effect). Can any dark stripes be seen on these pieces...I believe the answer to be no... :-)

Hi IronLace, I have noticed the same thing about the rainbow and the satin finish, as I had some in hand as well. There is no better way to see the difference. There are other glass pieces that leave me ambiguous, but time will tell I hope, with new information. Thank you for your graciousness with this subject.

Thank you for this beautiful post IronLace, a great selection, and a rainbow at your feet too! :^D Great information from truthordare, about the reproductions, and then another way to tell, if it's a repro. or old glass from you IronLace! Thanks to the both of you for that, and the reason that I love CW, information found! :^)
